Sverdlovsk Constructivism Walk

Yekaterinburg, then Sverdlovsk, was a constructivist laboratory in the 1920s and 30s. The Press House (Dom Pechati), the Iset Hotel and the Chekist Town (Gorodok Chekistov), the House of Industry, and a string of workers' clubs and communal houses survive in the centre.

The half-circular Iset Hotel and the curved Chekist Town residential complex on Lenin Avenue are the most distinctive set. A self-guided walk along Lenin Avenue from the City Pond eastward takes in most of the key buildings; explanatory plaques in Russian and English have been put up at the major ones.
