One of Granada's classic taverns, Bodegas Castañeda has been serving wine and tapas near the cathedral since 1921. The barrel-lined walls, old tiled signs, and cluttered bar have the authentic look of a century of continuous operation — because that's what it is. The tapas that come with each drink are reliably good: jamón, cheese, fried fish, and the house speciality of queso en aceite (cheese preserved in oil).
The place gets crowded at peak hours, but the turnover is quick. This is what tapas bars looked like before Instagram made everyone design them.
