Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo fills the former Carthusian monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas with contemporary art. The site is as important as the collection: it has been a clay mine, monastery, ceramics factory, and temporary burial place for Christopher Columbus, and the grounds still hold orange trees, chimneys, and monastic architecture.
