Cuesta de San Francisco

A short, steep stepped lane that links the upper old town with the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca below. The walls of the convent of San Francisco, suppressed in the 19th century, line one side; bars and pintxo joints line the other.

In the evenings it functions as a vertical bar terrace, with drinkers spilling onto the steps. The acoustics are good for street musicians, who frequently set up at the bottom of the stairs.
