Santa Maria de Castrelos is a small Romanesque church in the Castrelos parish, away from Vigo's port and commercial centre. Its stonework and simple medieval proportions make it a modest but rewarding stop if you are already visiting Castrelos Park or the nearby Quiñones de León museum.
The church is not a reason to cross Vigo on its own, but it adds depth to a district many travellers see only as green space. It is the kind of quiet local monument that helps explain how old the surrounding villages were before modern Vigo spread around them.
