Rålambshovsparken — "Rålis" to locals — is the big open park at the western end of Kungsholmen, spread across a gentle slope down to the water beneath the Västerbron bridge. In summer it is one of central Stockholm's favourite places to do very little: picnics on the grass, swimming and sunbathing off the rocks, frisbee and football on the lawns, and an open-air stage that hosts free theatre and concerts.
The park connects to the Norr Mälarstrand promenade, so it works well as the destination at the end of a waterside walk along the island's southern shore. Out of season it is quieter but still a fine spot for the views back across Riddarfjärden to Södermalm.
