A long, open-air bazaar along the banks of the Prut near the bridge to Probiy Waterfall, said to be the largest souvenir market in western Ukraine. The merchandise is a mix of genuine Hutsul folk craft and standard tourist tat — sheepskin vests and embroidered shirts (vyshyvanky), carved wooden boxes and crucifixes, ceramic pots, mountain honey, herbal teas, and homemade horilka in dubious bottles.
Bargaining is expected but gentle. The best stalls are at the back, where carvers and weavers work on commission and can show you the difference between machine-made and hand-finished pieces. Pay attention to the woven blanket booths — Hutsul lizhnyky are made of long-staple sheep wool and are some of the warmest blankets you can buy anywhere.
