Blackpool Tower
Blackpool's Eiffel-inspired landmark, with a viewing platform, circus, and ballroom inside.
Blackpool Tower is the town's defining landmark, a 158-metre iron structure that rises from the promenade with complete confidence. It is part viewing tower, part entertainment complex, and part civic logo.
Go up for the seafront view if the weather is clear, but do not ignore what is inside. The circus and ballroom are as much a part of the Blackpool story as the view from the top.

A story
Blackpool Tower opened in 1894 after the town's mayor saw the Eiffel Tower and wanted something with the same shock value on the Lancashire coast. The result is smaller than Paris's tower, but in Blackpool it performs the same job: it tells you exactly where you are.
