Stanley Park is the best inland break from Blackpool's promenade. It has formal gardens, a boating lake, sports grounds, and an art deco cafe that gives the park a surprising architectural lift.
Come here when the seafront starts to feel too much. It is still unmistakably a municipal park, but a good one, and it reveals a quieter civic pride behind the resort facade.
