Bath is one of those rare cities where the architecture itself is the main attraction. The honey-coloured Georgian crescents and terraces are best appreciated on foot, and the compact centre makes it easy to cover the highlights in a day or two. The Roman Baths and Bath Abbey anchor the city centre, while the Royal Crescent and the Circus reward a walk uphill through the elegant streets of the upper town. Several excellent museums and a handful of parks round out the picture.
