Quakers Burial Ground

The Quakers Burial Ground is one of Bristol's quieter reminders of the city's religious and trading history. It was the original burial ground for the Society of Friends, whose members formed a close community in Bristol during the 18th century.

The site is most interesting for the story it tells. Bristol Quakers were among the first organised voices against the slave trade in 1760, a striking position in a city whose wealth was deeply tied to Atlantic commerce.
