St George's Bristol is a handsome former church just off Park Street, close to Brandon Hill, with the clean lines and columns of an early 19th-century Greek Revival building. It now works as an independent concert hall, and its reputation rests on sound: chamber music, jazz, folk, spoken word, and small-ensemble performances suit the room especially well.
The venue is a useful evening option if you want something more intimate than the larger Bristol Beacon. Even without a ticket, the setting is worth noticing while walking between the city centre, the museum, Brandon Hill, and Clifton; with a good programme, it becomes one of Bristol's more memorable indoor stops.
