Sun Tower

The Sun Tower is a Beaux-Arts landmark on the edge of Vancouver's old newspaper district, completed in 1912 and once the tallest building in the British Empire. Its green dome and terracotta detailing make it easy to pick out from the surrounding streets.

You only need a short stop here, but it is a good one for architecture fans walking between Gastown and Chinatown. The building gives a glimpse of the confident, pre-war Vancouver that grew up around port trade, newspapers, and railway money.
