The Forks

Historic river junction with market, museum, and winter skating

The meeting place of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers — in Indigenous use for at least 6,000 years, now a 54-acre public space with a covered market, a skatepark, riverside promenades, and in winter the world's longest skating trail (up to 10 km, on the frozen rivers themselves). The Canadian Museum for Human Rights rises at the north end.
