FortWhyte Alive is one of Winnipeg's best outdoor escapes inside the city limits. The site combines lakes, restored prairie, forest trails, and interpretive buildings, with a resident bison herd giving visitors a quick reminder that Manitoba's landscape story is much bigger than the city grid.
It works in all seasons: walking and paddling in warm weather, snowshoeing and winter programming when the cold sets in. Families will find plenty to do, but it is not only for children. For travellers, FortWhyte is a useful way to understand prairie ecology without driving far out of Winnipeg.
