A 400-acre park in west Winnipeg with an English-style formal garden, duck pond, miniature railway, outdoor stage, and the Assiniboine Park Zoo — one of the best in western Canada, with a focus on northern species including polar bears, wolves, and snowy owls. The Journey to Churchill exhibit is a centrepiece, replicating the subarctic landscape. The Pavilion Gallery hosts rotating art exhibitions. In winter the park has skating trails and toboggan hills.
The park is 20 minutes from downtown by car or bus, and most Winnipeg families know it intimately.
