Habana del Este Harbour Views

From the eastern side of Havana harbour — reached by tunnel from the centre or by ferry from Old Havana — the views back across the water to the city's skyline are among the best available. The Morro Castle (Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro) stands at the harbour entrance, a 16th-century fortress that guarded the approach to Havana for centuries. The lighthouse at its tip still operates.

The area around the Morro and the Cabaña fortress (Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña) is a park that Habaneros use in the evenings and on weekends. The cannon firing ceremony at the Cabaña at 9pm each evening draws both locals and tourists.
