General Zaragoza is a small mountain town in the far south-east of Nuevo León, much closer in spirit to the Sierra Madre than to metropolitan Monterrey. It is remote, cool by regional standards, and framed by wooded slopes, rivers, and waterfalls.
The reason to come is Parque El Salto, where the Río Blanco drops through forested country and the Velo de Novia waterfall gives the town its main travel anchor. The broader setting matters too: Cerro Viejo is visible from town, and official tourism material sells Zaragoza as a place of misty forest, orchids, mountain biking, and outdoor cabins.
This is not a polished city break. It is a rural escape for travellers already moving through southern Nuevo León or northern San Luis Potosí, and it rewards the effort only if you want mountain air, cold water, and a quiet town at the end of the road.
