Cerro de la Silla is Monterrey's signature mountain, a saddle-shaped mass that dominates the skyline from almost anywhere in the city. It is more than a backdrop: for hikers, it is one of the classic local challenges and a symbol of the city's hard-edged northern geography.
The climb is serious in heat and should not be improvised without water, sun protection, and a realistic sense of fitness. Even if you do not hike it, watching the mountain change colour at dawn or sunset is part of being in Monterrey.
