Librería CONARTE

The CONARTE Library (Consejo para la Cultura y las Artes de Nuevo León) is housed inside a converted warehouse at Parque Fundidora and is one of the most photographed interiors in Mexico. The shelving structure — a honeycomb of interlocking wooden cells rising from floor to ceiling — was designed to hold 30,000 books while creating a space that feels more like a forest than a library.

The library is open to the public and the books can be read on site. Beyond the extraordinary shelving system, the building hosts exhibitions, readings, and cultural events throughout the year. It is worth visiting even if you don't read Spanish — the space itself is a remarkable piece of design.

A story
The library was installed inside a 19th-century warehouse at Parque Fundidora using a honeycomb of recycled wooden shelving units — around 30,000 books arranged in a three-dimensional lattice that fills the building from floor to ceiling. It was designed by the Monterrey architecture firm Anagrama and gained international attention when photographs of it spread online in 2013. The books are real and available to read.
