Pabellón de Hidalgo is a small Pueblo Magico north of Aguascalientes city, and it earns its stop through one compact story: the old Hacienda de San Blas and the moment when Miguel Hidalgo was removed from command of the insurgent army after the defeat at Calderon Bridge. The town is not grand, but it has a clear historical centre and enough nearby landscape to make a good slow excursion.
The Museo de la Insurgencia is the anchor. Around it are the Parroquia de San Blas, the Plaza Principal, and pieces of hacienda architecture that still define the town's scale.
West of the centre, Presa San Blas and the Cerro de Santa Cruz give the visit a change of pace: water, dry hills, and a view back over the settlement. It is a place for a half day from Aguascalientes rather than a major destination, but it is not just another roadside town.
