Boaco's central park is a shaded square ringed by low buildings, the cathedral, and the alcaldía (city hall). Like most Nicaraguan town squares, it functions as the city's primary public space — benches under trees, a bandstand, children chasing pigeons, and a steady stream of people crossing it in every direction.
It is a good place to sit and take stock of the city. The square is livelier in the evening, when food vendors set up carts and locals come out to escape the heat of their homes. It is also the main hub for mototaxis, which is how you get anywhere in Boaco quickly.
