Iglesia San Juan de Dios is one of Leon's older surviving churches, traditionally dated to the early 17th century as the chapel of the city's first hospital. Its adobe walls and modest colonial form make a quieter contrast with Leon's grand cathedral and showier baroque facades.
It is a short stop, but a worthwhile one if you are walking the city's church circuit. Leon rewards this kind of wandering: a major monument, then a smaller church, then a street corner where the colonial grid still feels lived in.
