San Francisco Church is one of Leon's oldest churches, originally built in 1639 beside the former Franciscan convent. The Franciscans were expelled in 1830 and the church was later reconstructed in the 1960s.
The bell tower, altarpieces, and statue of Saint Francis make it a worthwhile stop on a walk between Leon's colonial churches and museums.
