A heated saltwater swimming lagoon tucked between King Harbor and the inner edge of the marina, popular with families because the water is calm, the depth is gentle, and lifeguards are on duty all season. There is a sand beach around the lagoon, picnic areas, two slides, and a small concession stand.
The lagoon closes for the winter (typically October through April) and operates as a paid-entry city facility — admission is $5 for adults, less for children, no reservations required. It can be very busy on summer weekends; weekday mornings are noticeably quieter.
The lagoon water is filtered ocean water, which makes the place a useful introduction to saltwater swimming for nervous kids who are not yet comfortable in the surf at the main beach.
