The Marvin Braude Bike Trail — universally known as the Strand — is the paved coastal path that runs from Redondo Beach Pier 22 miles north along the Pacific to Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades. The Redondo end is the southern terminus; from here the path crosses into Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Playa del Rey, Venice and Santa Monica.
The first three miles (through Hermosa and into Manhattan) are the most scenic — wide beach to the west, the houses of the South Bay strand on the east, no road crossings, and constant ocean views. Bike rentals are widely available at the pier and at hotels in Hermosa. Roller-bladers, runners, e-scooters and skateboarders share the path; it gets busy on weekends.
A return ride from Redondo to Manhattan Beach Pier and back is around 8 miles, easily manageable on a beach cruiser.
