Cheapside Park

A compact downtown plaza next to the old Fayette County Courthouse. The square hosts a Saturday-morning farmers' market from May to October, an antique market on Thursdays, free Thursday-night concerts in summer, and occasional film screenings. The park is named for the historic livestock market that operated here for over a century — and was also, more uncomfortably, a slave market. A 2018 historical marker addresses that history directly. A useful resting spot during a downtown walking tour.
