Mary Todd Lincoln House

The childhood home of Mary Todd Lincoln, where she lived from age 13 to 21 before marrying Abraham Lincoln in 1842. The Georgian brick house on West Main Street has been restored to the 1830s and contains a mix of Todd and Lincoln family furniture, including a small writing desk Mary used as a young woman. The interpretation emphasises her unusual education for a woman of the era and the complicated politics of her Confederate-sympathising Lexington family during her husband's presidency. Open March through November; 45-minute guided tours.
