Hunt-Morgan House

A 1814 Federal-style townhouse in the Gratz Park historic district, built for John Wesley Hunt, the first millionaire west of the Allegheny Mountains. Hunt's grandson Thomas Hunt Morgan, who lived briefly in the house as a child, went on to win the 1933 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his work on chromosomes — making this an unusually high-achievement family home. Gratz Park itself, with several other antebellum houses and a fountain, is worth a stroll.
