Kentucky Horse Park

A 1,200-acre working horse park 15 minutes north of downtown, conceived in the 1970s as both a tourist attraction and a venue for equestrian events. There are presentations of every major breed in the daily Parade of Breeds, a horse-drawn trolley tour of the grounds, and two strong museums: the International Museum of the Horse (Smithsonian affiliated) and the American Saddlebred Museum. The grave of Man o' War, the most famous thoroughbred of the early 20th century, is in the centre of the grounds. Open year-round but most rewarding in spring and autumn.
