An ornate 1922 movie palace on Main Street, now an independent cinema and concert venue. The interior is an extravagant mix of Spanish, Moorish, and Renaissance flourishes — gilded ceilings, columns, plaster reliefs — restored after a 1987 fire nearly destroyed the place. The Kentucky still shows first-run indie and arthouse films, classic revivals, and occasional live music. Going for a film here is the most pleasant downtown evening out in Lexington.
