Headley-Whitney Museum

The most unusual museum in the Bluegrass country. Jewellery designer George Headley built it on his farm in the 1960s to house his collection of decorative arts and his bibelots — miniature objects of precious stone and metal. The grounds also hold a Jewel Room lined with shells and semi-precious stones and a private library shaped like a country chapel. Strange, opulent, and entirely worth the 20-minute drive west of downtown. Open afternoons Thursday through Sunday.
