Wildlife Safari Park is Omaha's easiest nature-minded family excursion, set southwest of the city near Ashland. Unlike a conventional zoo, the route moves through large outdoor habitats where bison, elk, deer, cranes, and other native or regional species are the focus.
It is best for travelers with children, birders with a spare half-day, or anyone who wants a soft introduction to Great Plains wildlife without leaving the Omaha area for a full park trip. Go slowly, bring binoculars if you have them, and expect the experience to be more relaxed than spectacular.
