The West Rim route toward Cabin Spring is one of Zion's great high-country hikes, trading the crush around the canyon floor for long views across sandstone cliffs and side canyons. It is still serious desert walking, with exposure, heat, and distance to respect.
For strong hikers, this section shows why Zion is more than its most photographed overlooks. Start early, carry more water than feels reasonable, and check National Park Service trail conditions before committing, especially after storms or in hot weather.
