Virginia Holocaust Museum

A substantial Holocaust museum in a converted warehouse on Roseneath Road, founded in part by Richmond's Jewish community and by Jay Ipson, a Holocaust survivor who settled in Richmond after the war. The museum traces the history of the Holocaust through personal testimonies, artifacts, and reconstructions, with particular attention to the Richmond community's own connection to the events in Europe.

The museum is serious and affecting; children under 13 are advised to visit with an adult. Free admission, which makes it all the more remarkable for the quality and scale of what it contains.
