The High Divide Loop is one of Olympic National Park's classic backcountry routes, climbing from the Sol Duc side through forest and lake basins to a high ridge above Seven Lakes Basin. On clear days the reward is a broad view across the Hoh River valley to the glaciers and shoulders of Mount Olympus.
This is not a casual waterfall stroll. The full loop is a long, steep backpacking trip with fragile alpine meadows, strict food-storage rules, and permit requirements for overnight camps. Fit day hikers can sample pieces of it, but the real experience is a careful two- or three-day circuit when the snow has melted and the weather window is kind.
