West Virginia Governor's Mansion

1925 Georgian Revival residence on the Capitol grounds

The Governor's Mansion, built in 1925 just east of the Capitol, is a three-storey red-brick Georgian Revival residence designed by Walter Martens. The building has hosted every West Virginia governor since Howard Gore. Public tours run on Thursdays and Fridays and cover the formal rooms, the dining room, the library, and the conservatory; the upstairs family quarters are private.

The mansion sits in landscaped grounds with mature magnolias and a small pond. It pairs naturally with a visit to the Capitol and the state museum across the lawn.
