The old colonial heart of Córdoba, organised around Plaza San Martín and the Jesuit Block. Most of the buildings worth seeing — the cathedral, the cabildo, the old university, the Carmelite convent — are within a few blocks of each other in a pleasant, walkable grid.
The centro doubles as the city's main business district. By day it is busy with office workers, students, and shoppers; by night it largely empties out, with the action shifting to Nueva Córdoba and Güemes.
