Eating Out

Córdoba's food is solid Argentine — parrillas (steakhouses), pasta places run by Italian-descended families, milanesa-and-fries fondas, and a strong empanada tradition. The local empanada is fried rather than baked and stuffed with beef, raisins, and olives. Look out also for locro, the slow-cooked corn and meat stew, especially around national holidays. Nueva Córdoba has the best concentration of student-priced places; the streets around the Patio Olmos and General Paz are where the locals eat. Güemes is the artisan neighbourhood with newer bistros and ethnic restaurants.
