Getting There

By air. Córdoba's Ingeniero Ambrosio Taravella International Airport (COR), about 15 km north of the centre, has direct flights from Buenos Aires (about 90 minutes) and a few other Latin American hubs including São Paulo, Lima, and Panama City. A taxi from the airport into town costs about half what it does in Buenos Aires.

By bus. The long-distance bus terminal — Terminal de Ómnibus de Córdoba — is one of the largest in Argentina and the easiest way of moving around the country. Buenos Aires is a 10-hour overnight, Mendoza nine hours, and Salta and Tucumán are common northern routes. The semi-cama and cama suite buses are excellent — reclining seats, meals, and drinks served.

By car. Roads from Buenos Aires and Rosario are good. From Mendoza the Highway 7 over the Pampa is straight and long; expect about eight hours of driving.

By rail. A weekly train from Buenos Aires runs to Córdoba (Mitre line). It is much slower than the bus but cheap and an experience in itself.
