When to Go

Córdoba's climate is more temperate than Buenos Aires — warmer summers, cooler winters, and less humidity. The city sits at 400 metres above sea level on the eastern edge of the sierras, which moderate the heat.

Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are the easiest months for visiting. The jacaranda trees bloom in October and November, painting the avenues purple, and temperatures sit around 20–25°C.

Summer (December to February) is hot — regularly 35°C and occasionally 40°C — and most students leave the city for the sierra villages or the coast. The streets are quieter but the heat is real.

Winter (June to August) is cool and dry, with crisp days around 15°C and nights that can drop to freezing. Excellent walking weather and the best time for museums and the colonial centre.

The Córdoba International Animation Festival in November and the Cosquín Folklore Festival in nearby Cosquín in January are the marquee events.
