Cerro San Javier and Cristo Bendicente

A 1,800 m forested hill that rises directly behind the city, reached by a winding road through subtropical Yungas cloud forest. At the summit stands a 28 m white statue of Christ — the Cristo Bendicente, erected in 1942 by the Italian-Argentine community — and a long terrace with panoramic views back over the city and the plain stretching east toward the Paraná basin.

About 25 km west of Tucumán; a popular Sunday excursion, particularly when the city itself is sweltering in summer.
