Jardín Japonés

The Jardín Japonés (Japanese Garden) occupies a quiet corner of the Parque Metropolitano on Cerro San Cristóbal, a short walk from the cable car station. It was a gift from the Japanese community in Chile and has the standard elements of a formal Japanese garden — koi ponds, stone lanterns, curved bridges, manicured shrubs — executed with reasonable fidelity to the tradition.

It is a pleasant place to sit quietly when the summit areas of the park are crowded, and the koi ponds are popular with children. The garden is at its best in spring when the flowering shrubs are in bloom. Small admission fee; open Tuesday to Sunday.
