Cerro Calán rises above Las Condes, giving this quiet park a broad view over Santiago's eastern suburbs and the wall of the Andes beyond. The hill is best known for the astronomical observatory on its summit, but it also works as a short escape from the traffic below.
Come for a walk rather than a full-day outing. On clear days the reward is the city view; after rain or in winter the mountains can look close enough to touch.
