The Statue of Koxinga is a large equestrian monument on a hill east of Quanzhou. Koxinga, also known as Zheng Chenggong, is remembered locally as a seafaring commander and more widely for expelling the Dutch from Taiwan in the 17th century.
The statue is most interesting for its scale and the story behind it. It makes sense for visitors already following Quanzhou's maritime history and links across the Taiwan Strait.
