Chen Clan Ancestral Hall is one of Guangzhou's finest surviving examples of traditional Cantonese architecture. Built in the late 19th century for the Chen clan, it is now a museum of folk art and craft.
The building is the reason to come: carved roof ridges, painted beams, stone and wood details, and courtyards that show off the richness of Lingnan decorative work. The exhibits add context, but the architecture carries the visit.
