Wugui Shan, the country park on the eastern edge of Zhongshan, is the green lung of the city. The trails climb through camellia and cassia forest to several viewpoints overlooking the surrounding lowlands and on clear days as far as the Pearl River. The highest summit reaches 531 metres; a half-day walk takes you to the top and back.
The park also contains a Buddhist temple complex, the Dajue Temple, and several reservoirs popular with weekend picnickers. It is busy on Sundays and quiet during the week. The eastern entrance, near Wuguishan Subdistrict, is the easiest starting point and is reachable by city bus from the centre.
