Zhongshan Hot Springs

The Zhongshan Hot Springs Resort, on the eastern edge of the prefecture near the Sanxiang district, taps a network of natural thermal springs at around forty degrees. The site has been developed since the 1980s into a sprawling complex of open-air pools, gardens, and bathing pavilions — heavily landscaped in the modern Chinese resort style.

Day-use is straightforward: you pay an entry fee and have access to the public pools and changing rooms. Weekends fill with families from Hong Kong and Macau on short breaks; weekdays are quieter. The setting against forested hills is genuinely pleasant once you get past the development.
