Yangmei Ancient Town is a river settlement west of Nanning, known for its old lanes, clan buildings, temples, and houses from the Ming and Qing periods. It is not as polished as China's showcase water towns, which can be a virtue if you want something slower and more local.
The town works best as a low-key half-day trip rather than a headline attraction. Walk the lanes, look for older stone and brick details, and leave time for the riverfront. Public transport can be slow, so a driver makes the visit easier if you are short on time in Nanning.
