Zhiyuan Villa was one of the residences connected with General Yang Hucheng, a key figure in the Xi'an Incident. It is administered with the Xi'an Incident Museum and helps explain the local setting of the 1936 crisis that pushed Chinese Nationalist and Communist forces toward a united front against Japan.
